It's exactly 40 years ago, Richard Adekunle Oluwasanya-led 83 set of ISDGS Alumni left school. In the spirit of ploughing back their gains to the school, they decisively resolved to reunite, rejoice, celebrate the uncommon grace God had endowed them all.
The 2-day reunion programme had the theme: "Bonding for the prosperity of our generation next." It was indeed historic, epoch-making and success-ladden. The students were exposed to career talks by two erudite scholars among the set: Professor Foluke Idowu Odutayo and Professor Amusa Nojimu Adetunji. While the former did justice to "Building your tomorrow from today", the latter made a presentation on "Determination: Key to academic success."
The reunion programme was not only designed to benefit our greater tomorrow but also to make the present generation live a healthily fulfilled life. Professor Idowu Odutayo had another presentation on "Our age and health" as we all know and agree that health is wealth. No one left the programme the same way he came.
Questions and answers session was created for better understanding and cross-fertilization of greater ideas. One of the highlights of the historic event was the presentation of plastic chairs and tables for students' use during WASSCE. More importantly, and as the world is today, a website - www.isdgs.ng was designed and created for the school to have her name on the global map. The web design was initiated and presented by a renowned IT guru, Pastor Dr. Jimson Owodunni Olufuye, a prominent member of the set.
The Principal of the school, Mrs Timothy-Iteogu Adenike, in her reaction, was full of unending joy and deepest gratitude to the executives and members of the set for their magnanimity and generosity. She prayed that God in his infinite mercy will continue to elevate, uplift and strengthen them in all their human endeavours.
The National Executive Council was well represented by Dr. 'Kunle Abati (NP), Alhaji Suraj 'Kunle Lawal (VP I), Evang. Kayode Ogunsola JP (ASG) and Chief Saheed A. Adekoya (Chief Whip). Other NEC members in attendance include Mrs Adenike Ishola (FS), a member of the set, Elder Ogunnupe and Chief Sakiru Alowonle Sunmola, the General Secretary and the MC of the occasion.
The National President, Dr Kunle Abati in his speech, was full of appreciation to the 83 set for the gift items presented to the school especially the website design. He also used the forum to highlight the mission, vision and objectives of the NEC which majorly border on the need to redeem the seemingly lost glory of the school through synergy and collaborative efforts. The science laboratory was indeed an eyesore and it needs urgent attention of the old students so as not to deny our science-oriented students needed knowledge acquisition. School land encroachment, insecurity and need to complete the school gate were other issues begging for attention, he further stressed.
The anniversary commemorative cake was cut after which group and personal photographs were taken to make the event more glamorous, remarkable and memorable.
Summarily, other sets were called upon to come to the aid of ISDGS, Ala, our own Macedonia so as to enable us place her among comity of schools not only in Ijebu axis but also Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.
